Weekeeeeeeeend! :D

It's another Monday already?
Don't know, don't care :p
Just wanted to share my great weekend with you guys! :)
Something a little bit different than usual, finally! (I knew I had to wait a few more days with that post about how we spend our days off here hehe)

First of all is that our boys finally came to Dubai!
Little history - We all met on the same open day, last year in February, and they were 'on hold' all this time, can you imagine that? Waiting for something like this for so looong? But at the end they are here now! And we had to celebrate it! :D

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another:
"What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”
C.S. Lewis

'Hey taxi driver, turn the music up!'

So, after I landed from Frankfurt on a Friday night we met at my place... actually my kitchen, ah, just like home, everyone hangs in the kitchen :))
Real Croatian mafia style hahaha :)))
That night we met some new friends, one of which invited us for a BBQ day at the pool the day after, and we were like 'why not? it's saturday!' :)
We had pretty good time out in this club called Crystal, on the top of Wafi pyramid and after party back in my kitchen, there were some leftovers in the bottles ;) I don't have to explain it to you do I? :p

2 hours of sleep and alarm went on, wake up! Put your swimming suit, sunglasses, sun cream and your never fading smile on and let's have some fun! :)

One ride across town (with a professional driver who promissed to drive me on the track, weeee, hehe) and there we were, nice house with a cold water in the pool, drinks, and meet waiting to be barbecued :)

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?”
A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

The greatest thing of all was the fact that not everyone there was cabin crew! What a refreshing thing, not talking about anything that has to do with your job for one whole day?! Really good feeling, like you are on a vacation haha!

Our Superman! :)

Want to point out one more thing here, it is still strange for me meeting new people like this, randomly, accidentally, just have them inviting you in your life after a few hours or days you know each other, becoming friends just like that, in a second!
That doesn't happen back home, or in the most countries I would say? Or I'm wrong?
Anyway, it always amazes me how you can meet really good people like this - by chance!
If I'll be honest, most of my great friendships started in the same way, destiny I would say, but when you think about it...there's no better way to meet 'quality' personalities than this! :)

“How ridiculous and how strange to be surprised at anything which happens in life”
Marcus Aurelius

We really had an awesome day and night, enjoyed it to the fullest...
I think pictures speak for themselves :)

Say WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?! :D

Hope You, my dearest readers had a great weekend as well! Share it with me please I would love to know if you did something extra on your days off, specially if you're sitting in your office now, daydreaming helps! :D

Kisses and good night! :)
I'll go take a nap before my 3am Manchester flight...

19 June 2013

One day (off) in a life of a cabin crew :)

This is my third try of writing a post on this subject! I don't know how you people expect me to explain it to you easily :P
Ok, let's try one more time... :)

First of all I don't even know when that one day starts? At midnight? From when I open my eyes and wake up? Does that includes coming from a flight at 6am and sleeping untill 11am or 2pm or...and then being awake 'till 3 in the morning? What kind of a day are you interested in knowing about?
I'll try to describe to you one proper day off.

Like to wake up around 10am, maybe 11, if I'm lucky to sleep well and then it depends what kind of mood I'm in, maybe I'll go to the pool, maybe I'll go to head quarters if there's something I have to do there, maybe I'll go to one of the malls, or I would just stay home doing laundry, being lazy thinking how it would be great to go to the gym (but I skip that thought very quickly :p) and wait for Adri or other girls to wake up so we do something together, or we just make lunch and spend a day in front of TV.
Time passes so fast here it's unbelievable, sometimes I ask myself where did that day just go?!
Malls are so huge and to go there and get back takes time, traffic can be awful... Doing laundry, cleaning your home and making yourself spa treatments (or actually going for one) and there you go, it's already evening! That's just crazy! :)

What if we decide to go out, or you have a night flight and you can't sleep before it, your day can easily turn from a 24hours day to a 48hours one, you forget when you slept or ate last time...

This post is just impossible :) Every day is different but sometimes, somehow is the same! Does it make any sense?
Sometimes when I'm feeling down I spend a day in my appartment reading a book, watching movies, texting with my friends back home... Sometimes we go to the beach, sometimes we visit each others at our homes or sometimes we meet out for a drink, lunch, dinner. Sometimes we go treat ourselves with a little shopping. Sometimes we start drinking early and end up somewhere without planning it :) Sometimes we make so much food (read: during PMS :) ) and we just eat, talk, gossip, watch tv, cry over some love movies or spend time on each computers :D

Let's put it like this - what do you do during weekends? When you have your days off? It's the same thing, you enjoy it doing whatever you feel like doing at that time :) The only difference is that here the same people are your friends AND family so everything you do you do with them!
A few days ago we made a decission - if I'm off and one of my girls is flying somewhere nice I'll just buy a ticket and go with her for a day! And the other way around! That's how we'll visit more destinations and spend more quality time together :) Have some great layovers without working on that specific flight :D
Starting next month, just waiting for the rosters to come out! :)

Oh my... I still didn't say anything interesting to you, and I feel like this is far from the answer you were looking for :)
Alright T, concentrate!
My day yesterday started at 11am, I woke up and went to Madina mall for some groceries and a pharmacy but then I saw a big big red sign saying 'SALE', actually a lot of those signs in a perfume shop where Adri and me always buy them (we get big discounts as well cause we always buy more than one and because the mall is in the middle of nowehere so they are trying to attract people to the mall by downsizing prices). The guy recognized me immediately so I ended up with 3 again, 2 for me and 1 for my baby bro :)
Wanna know the discount prices? Juicy couture 100ml, usually costs around 450-470 dirhams (close to 100euros) but now it is 115 dirhams, which is around 23euros! Enough said! :)

Groceries shopping after that was pretty poor cause I was like "I don't really need this, I will survive without this, this is not really healthy at all..." (looking at my new perfumes) :))

Bought some fish for lunch for Miss M and me but then she called to come at her place for some coffee with her girls, so we spent a few hours sitting, chit-chatting... Later afternoon I made that fish for a late lunch, Miss M went to prepare herself for a Mauritius flight and I cleaned my room a little bit, did my nails, shower, all of that, watched a movie, started writing this, some whatsapping with my friends and read a book before sleep, and that was my day, that was my tuesday :)

Didn't look exactly like this but close enoug for the first time :))

Today is my rest day which means I have a night flight (to Frankfurt) and at 2am I have to be at the briefing so I woke up early this morning to make myslef sleepy before the flight and hopefully to fall asleep before work, packed my suitcase, went to the pool for and hour or 2, and now I'm going to cook something... Crazy interesting! :p
But...better now? Enough details? :)
Not much and yet it was a good day, or two... :)

Maybe I should've pick some other day to write this and to describe it but after all during these few days off I had, I found the time to do almost everything from this list! :)
How did you spend yours? ;)

Have yourself a beautiful day! :)

17 June 2013

Germany 4 in 1 :)

I started writing these things down anywhere I can cause when the thought or the idea of what to write about pops in my mind I wish I could just record it directly to a computer or a piece of paper... So this started on the Hamburg airport and is finished now on the 7th floor next to the pool :)
Don't really know where is all that coming from, a song I hear, places I see while driving in the bus on the way to the airport, feelings when I see things so familiar to those back home, food I eat...
Every time it starts with a single thought 'oh I could write about this, I should write it down immediately' and then an avalanche of thoughts start piling up and everything become one big mess :)

As I said I'm on the pool now trying to remember all of what I've been thinking for the last 3 days but it's so freaking hot I can't even hold a pen in my hand! Summer is back in the desert! :)
Ok, quick shower (and I'm already dry), cause the water in the pool is too warm, and now it's better :)

Anyway, what I wanted to write about was - all my trips to Germany, the land of beer and sausages (not just that but that's the first association on my mind :p and Germans are the second biggest consumers of beer in the world, after the Czechs).

We fly to 4 destinations in this country and with the latest one I've been to all of them.
Munich was my first, and I wrote about it already, sometime last summer... then it was Frankfurt twice (going there again in a few days), Düsseldorf and now Hamburg.

Munich

What to say...?
These flights are the best ones, as far as I'm concerned, easy, quiet, polite, quick, tidy...
Destinations - as well! Must confess I might feel a little bit bored after some time spent there, but than again we've been out for dinner on a friday night in Hamburg and it wasn't boring at all! :)
Reminds of home again, of course, all the same stores and markets we have, way of living, lots of 'Balkan' people living there, even the language cause Croatian has lots of 'germanisms' (German words we took and reshaped them) :)

Frankfurt

Seeing how people spend their Saturdays and Sundays make me feel nostalgic. Walking around, meeting friends for coffee or lunch outside, picnics, recreation, shopping, 'happenings' on the main square, everything is green in blossom, sun is shining, kids and dogs running around, all those beautiful houses with their gardens and lawns make me miss that feeling of "Yaaay it's weekend!"
We don't have that, we don't have weekends, we have days off, and it can be any day of the week...
Sometimes I feel I could even miss that awful feeling "Oh no, it's Monday again..."
Noooot! Just kidding, will never miss THAT one! :)
Today is Monday I think, is it?, and I'm lying at the pool, catching some sun, having my days off... And it feels goooood...
Now, you might think all of what I'm writing about is the same everywhere, I can meet friends in Dubai, have coffee or lunch with them, there are some trees, recreation on the beach...but the difference is that no matter how Dubai tries to be the biggest and the bestest, they try to plant as much as they can (it's great that they do, don't get me wrong), but it will never have a SOUL...it will never be natural...

Düsseldorf

Ok, here we go, a mess in my thoughts again. Where were I? Ah, Germany...
It's been some time since my last Frankfurt and Düsseldorf where honestly I didn't do much, just had some good company, went out in the city, walked around, found 'ćevapi', enjoyed the feeling and the food! :)

Hamburg is much fresher in my mind so let's see - we ate, slept, ate, went sightseeing, ate again...See a pattern? :D

Hamburg

The Hamburg Rathaus - the city hall or town hall. It is the seat of the government of Hamburg, located in the Altstadt quarter in the city centre, near the lake Binnenalster.

The city hall still houses its original governmental functions with the office of the First Mayor of Hamburg and the meeting rooms for Hamburg's parliament and senate.
It has 647 rooms, six rooms more than Buckingham Palace.

The courtyard is decorated with a Hygieia fountain.
Hygieia as the goddess of health in Greek mythology and its surrounding figures represents the power and pureness of the water.
It was built in remembrance of the cholera epidemic in 1892, the former technical purpose was air cooling in the city hall.

In the morning we took (rented) bikes from the hotel (5euros for 2 hours) and went around. It was the first time for all of us but still I ended up being a GPS locator AGAIN.
Flattering, cause you realize how your orientation is perfect unlike others hehe, boring cause you're the one 'responsible' here, always thinking what and where and how, but then again the best part of it is that you always see all the things YOU wanna see, since you're the only one who knows how to find them and how to come back from where we started :))

After we left the bikes back in the hotel, we returned to the center for some lunch and shopping in DM.

Were thinking of taking a boat ride since it's free for the guests of Le Meridien hotel but decided to leave something for the next time and go have some rest before the flight. Mission impossible! Every single time... There's no way I can sleep before the night flight so by the time I came home in my bed I felt like a zombi (most likely looked like one as well) :)
The whole day yesterday felt like I was drunk, but still...have to commend myself - I baked my first cake! For my lovely Miss A for her (not gonna say) birthday :D
If I can also say- it was delicious! :)

Think this is it cause if I keep writing this post will be one big mixed salad (salad? food? again? hmmm...what's for lunch today?) :)

Some interesting facts about Germany;
- Classical music has been widely dominated by German-speaking composers - Bach, Beethowen, Handel, Wagner, Strauss...
- Kant, Hegel, Nietzsche, some of the greatest philosophers were German
- Germany had the 3rd highest recycling rate
- Johannes Gutenberg printed the world's very first Bible in Mainz 1456.
- The German Autobahn is the oldest motorway network in the world, it is also the only one in Europe to have no general speed limit
- The world's second producer of cars (after Japan)
- Frankfurt International Airport claims the world record in the most international destinations served

Have a great Monday everyone,
4 more days till the weekend!

Love and kisses! :)
